Westover was a debut winner as a two-year-old in August 2021. He then posted a second place finish in the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes at Pontefract to round out his season.
His first run out as a three-year old saw him take the Gr.3 Classic Trial at Sandown with a tough drive to the line and he was subsequently placed in the 2022 Epsom Derby. His next outing was in the Gr.1 Irish Derby where he started as the 11-8 joint favourite with Tuesday. He travelled beautifully throughout the race, took the lead two furlongs out and then extended away from the field to win by seven lengths to win the Classic.
After a sequence of two runner-up performances in the Gr.1 Dubai Sheema Classic (at Meydan) and the Gr.1 Coronation Cup (at Epsom) in 2023 he returned to the winners enclosure in the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in July. Westover repelled the strongly-travelling Zagrey in the final 300 metres to win gamely by two lengths, lowering Alpinista's race-record time in the process.
Westover is a full brother to Gr.3 winner Monarchs Glen and his Gr.3 winning dam, Mirabilis, is a half-sister to dual Gr.1 winner Nebraska Tornado.
