Wendla raced twice in her juvenile year with her best finish a second place in a Cork Maiden race on debut.
She made her racecourse reappearance in March of her three-year-old year, winning a maiden race at Naas comfortably, despite the testing conditions. She then had an unplaced finish in her first step up into blacktype company in the Gr.3 Priory Belle Stakes at Leopardstown in April.
Returning to Leopardstown for the Gr.3 Cornelscourt Stakes a month later, Wendla gave a front-running performance, made all and ran on well to hold off her challengers.
Wendla is the final foal out of US Champion Intercontinental, a dual Grade 1 winner and daughter of Juddmonte's blue hen broodmare Hasili.
