Date of birth:25th February 2017
Trained by:

Ger Lyons

Siskin was unbeaten in four races as a two-year-old in 2019. He broke his maiden at Naas in May, winning comfortably by two-and-three-quarter lengths, and earning his next start in Listed company in the Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh. This he won in similar fashion, and likewise the Gr.2 Railway Stakes at the same track a month later.

Siskin confirmed his Group 1 credentials with victory in the Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes in August, despite being hampered by a loose horse, providing trainer Ger Lyons with his first Irish Group 1 winner. Lyons said after the race: “This is one good, tough horse. My confidence was shot all week with the rain, purely because we knew that he was better on a fast gallop than a dead one, and his forte is that burst of speed which he still showed there. Ryan Moore said to Colin [Keane, jockey] afterwards that he did well to win but I think he's just a very smart horse.”

On his seasonal appearance, Siskin maintained his unbeaten record, showing a brilliant turn of foot to win the Gr.1 Irish 2000 Guineas. He became Juddmonte's second winner of the race after Kingman in 2014, and a first Classic winner for trainer Ger Lyon and jockey Colin Keane.
