Scylla began her career as a three-year-old, making a winning debut over six furlongs at Keeneland in April 2023, earning herself a TDN 'Rising Star' tag in the process. She won again that season in a Churchill Downs Allowance race over a mile.
Her four-year-old season began with a second place finish in another Allowance race over a mile, this time at Gulfstream Park. She went on to place third in her first Graded race, the Gr.3 Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland in April and then scored another win at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby day with a seven-length winning margin.
She went into the Gr.3 Shawnee Stakes at Churchill Downs as race favourite and duly obliged beating Graded winners Xigera and Wet Paint in comfortable fashion. She returned to Churchill Downs for her next race, claiming another Graded win, this time in the Gr.2 Fleur de Lys Stakes over nine furlongs.
Her season continued with two second place finishes in Grade 1 races, the Clement L Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar and the Ballerina Handicap at Saratoga.
2025 saw Scylla place four times in Graded company including registering back-to-back Grade 1 placings in the Ballerina Stakes and the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes ahead of the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar. She went into the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Distaff as a 15-1 shot on the morning line but an early lead saw her open up a big advantage. She hit the line five and a half lengths ahead of her nearest rival in one of the more impressive efforts of Breeders' Cup weekend.
Juddmonte's Garrett O'Rourke commented after her win: "It is tremendously satisfying. think it's even more so with this filly because I don't know how many times Bill and I have discussed it. We've had a lot of Grade 1 winners over the years that I felt weren't nearly as good a racehorse as Scylla is. She showed up and ran fantastic races behind some exceptional horses. It was disappointing that we hadn't gotten it done but if you're going to do it, what a day to do it!"
