Sangarius (GB)

b c Kingman – Trojan Queen (Empire Maker)

Date of birth:1st May 2016
Trained by:

Sir Michael Stoute

Sangarius is a member of Kingman’s first crop. He won twice as a juvenile, first time out in Maiden at Newmarket in August, and second time in the Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes at Doncaster. In a particularly strong renewal of the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes, Sangarius finished fourth to Too Darn Hot, Advertise and Anthony Van Dyck, after not enjoying the clearest of runs.

Returning to the track as a three-year-old, Sangarius was third in the Listed Heron Stakes at Sandown behind fellow Kingman colts King Of Comedy and Roseman. It was then on to the Gr.3 Hampton Court Stakes (formerly the Tercentenary Stakes) at Royal Ascot, a race in which Juddmonte had enjoyed success in the past with Time Test and Remote. Sangarius won by two-and-a-quarter lengths from another Kingman colt, Fox Chairman.

Sangarius did not run again in 2019 but remained in training for 2020 and finished the year with a win in the Listed Quebec Stakes at Lingfield in December.
