Purview made a promising debut as a two-year-old with a relatively comfortable win at Dundalk towards the end of the season (22nd November).
He was next seen making his first foray into Group company in the Gr.3 Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown in May of his three-year-old season. He placed second behind subsequent dual Group 1 winner Delacroix on that occasion to gain the first blacktype for his page. Purview's next run saw him return to Leopardstown, this time in the Gr.3 Meld Stakes on 17th July. He was narrowly denied by Snellen who beat him by a short head.
His stakes-breakthrough came in late September with a comfortable length and a quarter victory in the Listed Navigation Stakes at Cork.
Purview is the first Stakes winner out of the Listed Finale Stakes winner Variable, who is herself a half-sister to the Gr.3 World Trophy winner First Instinct (Bated Breath), out of the Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac-winning mare Proportional.
