Laurel River had one start as a juvenile in October 2020. His maiden win came in April of his three-year-old year over six and a half furlongs at Santa Anita. He followed this up with a second place finish five weeks later in the Gr.3 Lazaro Barrera Stakes again over six and a half furlongs on the dirt at Santa Anita. He rounded out his season with another win in September, this time over a mile at Del Mar.
His four-year-old season began in July 2022 with another win at Del Mar, again over a mile before claiming his first blacktype win a month later in the seven furlong Gr.2 Pat O'Brien Stakes at Del Mar by three and three-quarter lengths, beating Grade 1 winners American Theorem, Speaker's Corner and Get Her Number.
Following a switch to Dubai-based trainer Bhupat Seemar in 2024, Laurel River went on to produce an impressive front-running victory in the Gr.3 Burj Nahaar at Meydan, finishing with a six and three-quarter length margin at the line.
Laurel River's next start was in the $12-million Gr.1 Dubai World Cup on 30th March. He produced a stunning front-running performance to win the race by eight and a half lengths under jockey Tadhg O'Shea.
Laurel River is out of a full sister to Juddmonte's four-time Grade 1 winner Emollient (Empire Maker). Calm Water is by another Juddmonte homebred in Empire Maker. Laurel River is the 72nd blacktype winner out of one of his daughters. Five of those are by Into Mischief, including Graded winners Mandaloun, Center Aisle and Laurel River himself.
