Flavius began his career in Ireland under the care of Dermot Weld. He won his first and only start as a two-year-old in a Maiden at Leopardstown, and he returned to the track the following year to win the Listed Trigo Stakes. The colt was transferred to the stables of Chad Brown at the end of that year.

In September 2020 Flavius blitzed to a first Stateside victory in the Listed Tourist Mile Stakes at Kentucky Downs, where he set a track record of 1:32.21. He was subsequently placed fifth in the Gr.1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland. He then went on to run in the Gr.2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar in November where he was a narrowly beaten second to previous graded winner Count Again.

Making his 2021 debut at Santa Anita, Flavius placed fourth on his second try at Gr.1 level, in the Kilroe Mile, and followed it up with a second in the Seek Again Stakes at Belmont Park in June before winning the Lure Stakes at Saratoga in August.
