Delaware began his career in France with trainer André Fabre. He ran five times as a two-year-old, breaking his maiden by two-and-a-half lengths on only his second start.
As a three-year-old he ran six times with only one finish out of the placings. His first stakes start as three-year-old was a winning one with a three-length victory in the Listed Prix de Tourgeville at Deauville in July. He returned to Deauville in August to take the Gr.3 Prix Daphnis with a commanding four-length gap to his rivals. In doing so he became Frankel’s 35th Northern Hemisphere Group winner.
Delaware, who hails from the family of four-time American Grade 1 winner Proviso (half-sister to his dam Zatsfine), transferred to US trainer Chad Brown for the 2020 season.
