Array (IRE)
b c No Nay Never - Joyeuse (Oasis Dream)
Andrew Balding
Array hit the board twice in his juvenile year before breaking his maiden in a Newmarket Novice race on his third racecourse appearance. His next run saw him take on the Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes on the all-weather at Kempton Park in early September where he placed third in a close finish.
He headed to Newbury a fortnight later to take on the Gr.2 Mill Reef Stakes. The heavy ground conditions proved no issue as he raced prominently, taking the lead with two furlongs remaining. He repelled a challenge from Mister Sketch inside the final furlong and was ridden out to a half-length margin for his first Pattern-level win.
Array is the sixth foal and first Group winner for the dual stakes-performer and multiple Group-placed Joyeuse. He is a half-brother to Gr.1 Turnbull Stakes and Gr.1 Doomben Cup runner-up Maximal and Gr.1 Coronation Stakes third Jubiloso.
Joyeuse is a half-sister to leading sire Frankel and his triple Group 1-winning full-brother Noble Mission.
