Time Lock to the fore in the Princess Royal
Frankel filly Time Lock built on her Listed Grand Prix de Craon win at the beginning of September to stamp her class all over Friday's Gr.3 Princess Royal Stakes at Newmarket.

Runner-up to classy Haskoy in York's Listed Galtres Stakes last August, the Harry and Roger Charlton-trained granddaughter of Passage Of Time (Dansili) had gone four outings without making the breakthrough prior to her foray to north-western France. Always travelling strongly towards the rear for Ryan Moore, the 9-2 shot moved easily to the front approaching two out and galloped relentlessly to the line for a commanding for an a quarter-length success in a competitive affair.
Adding ballast to the form, the Gosdens' progressive three-year-old Sweet Memories was second, with the same stable's impressive Listed Pretty Polly Stakes winner and one-time leading Oaks fancy Running Lion another length and a half away in third.
"We had been struggling to get our stakes win here, so we decided to bring her over to France for the race we won last year with a nice filly and she bolted up - I'd say it gave her a bit of confidence and she looks to have improved for it," Barry Mahon said.
"They went quick and they went a proper mile-and-a-half pace for a Group 3. She stays well, is genuine and tries hard and has always looked a good filly."
Ascot's Champions Day fixture could be on the cards now, according to Juddmonte's racing manager. "We could definitely think about giving the [G1] British Champion Fillies & Mares Stakes a go, but it would need to be good or good-to-soft ground," he added. "If it was heavy, it wouldn't be her cup of tea. There is a Group 1 race in Germany as well for her, so we will speak to the owners and see what they would like to do."
