Tabiti rallies for Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes success

The rescheduled Gr.3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes over 6f at Salisbury on Friday went the way of the Juddmonte homebred Tabiti (Kingman).

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 14th September 2024:

Trained by Ralph Beckett, the daughter of Kingman had to dig deep in the closing stages and rallied strongly to get the first blacktype success of her career. Sent off the 11/4 second favourite in the eight-runner field, which was headed by the William Haggas-trained Jewelry, the filly took up a prominent position on the inside rail throughout the early stages in the hands of Rossa Ryan, alongside the royal representative Handcuffed, as the pace was set by Magic Mild and Santa Savana.

She came under pressure three furlongs from home and looked for a moment like she might be going backwards. However, she responded well to her jockey’s urgings and, once switched off the rail inside the final furlong, she finished strongly and held off the late challenge of Miss Fascinator to win by half a length. Magic Mild finished a further one and three-quarter lengths back in third, with the favourite Jewelry failing to make an impression after having raced keenly throughout.

Tabiti made her debut in August with an impressive three and a quarter-length defeat of her owner-mate Zanzoun in a fillies’ maiden over 7f at Newmarket and has now maintained her unbeaten record with a maiden blacktype success yesterday. She looks like a filly who could be seen to good effect over a longer distance and she holds an entry in the Gr.1 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket next month.
