Stakes success for Blue Bolt
Blue Bolt, two-from-three heading into this blacktype debut, kept matters simple and made all to secure a win in the Listed Distaff Stakes at Sandown on Saturday.

The €400,000 Arqana August graduate made a breakthrough at Windsor in May and doubled up over the same one-mile trip at Newbury last month. Breaking smartly and holding sway throughout, the 2-1 pick was shaken up when pressed passing the quarter-mile marker and found plenty under a drive up the hill to contain the late bid of Cajole by a length.
"When I saw the draw we had [in stall three], I knew there was no point in taking her back," said Colin Keane. "For a stiff track, it's hard to come from too far back off the pace. When the ground is like that [good-to-firm], being on the pace helps and being on a nice filly is an even bigger help. It's such a stiff track, when you turn in on the straight you're climbing the whole way and I suppose horses struggle to make up ground on it."
