Purview plots perfect course for Navigation Stakes win

Homebred Purview (Kingman) took his opportunity and ran out a smart winner of the ten and a half furlong Listed Navigation Stakes at Cork yesterday.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 1st October 2025:

The Dermot Weld-trained colt remained held up under Colin Keane as a strong pace was set by the leader Tangapour. This played into the three-year old’s hands and he showed a decisive turn of foot to sweep to the front, running out a comfortable winner and securing a well-deserved first Stakes success by one-and a-quarter lengths over Cadogan in second. Iowa City was a further two lengths back in third.

The son of Kingman has shown some smart form since his winning debut at Dundalk last year, including a second place finish behind the subsequent dual Gr.1 winner Delacroix in the Gr.3 Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown in May and a narrow second to Snellen in the Gr.3 Meld Stakes in July. His most recent run came in the Listed Prix Nureyev, a race which was won last year by Ombudsman, and he finished a disappointing fifth despite being sent off favourite in a hot renewal of the race. The colt has no future entries but a return to Group company looks his likeliest next move.

He is the first Stakes winner out of the Listed Finale Stakes victrix Variable, herself a half-sister to the Gr.3 World Trophy winner and Gr.2 Sandy Lane Stakes third First Instinct (Bated Breath), out of the Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac-winning mare Proportional.
