Juddmonte homebred Shader reversed last month’s Listed Churchill Stakes form by defeating William Haggas’s talented globetrotter Dubai Honour in yesterday’s Listed Wild Flower Stakes over 12 furlongs at Kempton.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 18th December 2025:
The John and Thady Gosden-trained son of Shamardal tracked his aforementioned Southwell conqueror and swooped down the outside to challenge in the straight. Dubai Honour dug in, but was mastered inside the final furlong and had to settle for second, beaten a length and a half. Godolphin’s Ancient Wisdom was a further three and a half lengths adrift back in third.
This was a fourth victory in seven starts for the four-year-old, who had run out a convincing nine-length winner of the Listed Floodlit Stakes over course and distance early in November. Unraced as a juvenile, he had won a pair of novice contests at Southwell and Kempton last season at three.
Hailing from a long-established Juddmonte family, the gelding is the second winner from as many runners out of Shutter Speed (Dansili), who won the Gr.3 Musidora Stakes and went on to finish fourth in the 2017 Gr.1 Prix de Diane. The second dam is the dual-winning Oasis Dream mare Photographic, a half-sister to the multiple Australian Gr.1 winner Foreteller (Dansili), the Gr.2 Prix de Sandringham winner Modern Look (Zamindar; dam of the Gr.1-placed US Gr.3 winner Grand Jete) and the Listed Flying Fillies’ Stakes winner Arabesque (Zafonic; dam of the Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes winner and Gr.1-placed sire Showcasing and the Listed winner and sire Camacho).
