Listed Nottinghamshire Oaks win for Noon Star

Noon Star, a daughter of six-time Gr.1 winner Midday (Oasis Dream), collected her first stakes win with a determined performance in the Nottinghamshire Oaks yesterday (26th April).

Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News, 27th April 2022:

Labelled a TDN Rising Star after her decisive defeat of Loving Dream at Wetherby almost a year to the day, Noon Star found herself playing second fiddle to that subsequent Gr.1 Prix de Royallieu heroine when sixth behind her on what would be her final start of 2021 in Royal Ascot's Gr.2 Ribblesdale Stakes. In between, the blueblood had split Snowfall and Teona in the Gr.3 Musidora Stakes at York so she remained an exciting four-year-old prospect from Sir Michael Stoute's legion.

Fresh and keen tracking the leader Angel Power throughout the early stages, Noon Star had her measure approaching the furlong pole and kept digging to ward off the Gr.1 Nassau Stakes fourth Technique.

Noon Star is the sixth foal out of the outstanding triple Gr.1 Nassau Stakes heroine Midday, who also annexed the Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf, Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks and Gr.1 Prix Vermeille.

Midday's first foal was Galileo's Midterm, winner of the Gr.3 Sandown Classic Trial and Gr.3 Manion Cup, while her second was the Listed Height of Fashion Stakes scorer and Gr.2 Ribblesdale Stakes runner-up Mori (Frankel). Midday is half-sister to the Gr.3 Hoppings Stakes winner Sun Maiden (Frankel) and the Gr.3 Nell Gwyn Stakes scorer Hot Snap.
