Listed breakthrough for Amneris

Juddmonte filly Amneris came from last to first to win the Listed Stall Siepenblick at Baden-Baden on Saturday (24th August).

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 25th August 2024:

Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard and ridden by Rene Piechulek, the four-year-old filly was settled at the back of the six-runner field as Sombrero took them along at a decent clip. The eventual winner made good headway with 600m left to travel and was challenging shortly after turning for home. She gradually worked her way to the head of affairs, leading just inside the final 100m and going on to win by a length and a quarter. There was a blanket finish for the minor honours, with Atlantica just losing out to Lion’s Head and Rose Of Lips.

Amneris was bred by Manfred Würtenberger and Rainer Stöckli and realised €900,000 when purchased by Juddmonte at the Arqana August Sale. She had been unplaced on her only start at two but made progress throughout last season, winning a 2400m maiden at Clairefontaine and finishing second in the Listed Prix Arcangues on the polytrack at Deauville.

She earned further blacktype when third in the Listed Prix Urban Sea on her comeback this spring and has now enhanced her value with this stakes success. She is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Wonderment and out of the Champion Swiss Two-Year-Old Filly Wiwilia, a half-sister to the Gr.1 Man O’War Stakes winner Wake Forest.
