Kalpana retires to stud

Kalpana (5 b m Study Of Man / Zero Gravity) has been retired to stud, bringing an outstanding racing career to a close.

Kalpana reached new heights this season, with victories in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes Gr.1 and the Yorkshire Oaks Gr. 1, taking her tally to four Group 1 successes. Overall, she is the winner of 9 of her 20 races and £2,861,364 in prize money. She retires as one of Juddmonte’s most accomplished homebred mares, with only Midday and Enable having more European Group 1 victories to their names.

Kalpana has been a very genuine and sound mare who has given everyone involved great pleasure over the last three seasons, and we look forward to her next career as a broodmare at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud.

We would like to express our thanks to the team at Kingsclere, especially Kalpana’s groom, Shannon James, who did an exceptional job of caring for her throughout her career.

The Owners will decide on a mating plan for Kalpana in the coming weeks.
