Crenelle impresses in Fillies' Maiden Stakes

Crenelle (Kingman) got off the mark at the second time of asking in the 1m EBF three-year-old fillies’ maiden at Newmarket yesterday.

She is the first foal out of the Listed-placed Battlement (Dansili), who is closely related to the American Gr.3 winner and Gr.1-placed Suffused (Champs Elysees) and a half-sister to four other winners, including Gr.1 St Leger winner and sire Logician and the Listed-winning Collide (both by Frankel). They are out of the Listed Snowdrop Stakes third Scuffle (Daylami), who is a half-sister to Gr.1 Dubai Duty Free winner and sire Cityscape (Selkirk) and Gr.2 Temple Stakes winner and multiple Gr.1-placed sire Bated Breath (Dansili). Another sibling is the unraced Tarentaise (Oasis Dream; dam of Gr.2 Meydan Sprint Stakes winner and Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes second Equilateral). The third dam is the dual-Listed winner Tantina (Distant View).
