Blue Bolt conquers rivals

There was a real depth of quality to the one mile Listed Conqueror Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday, and the Andrew Balding-trained four-year-old Blue Bolt stamped her class on the race in the closing stages.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 3rd May 2026:

The Juddmonte-owned Blue Point filly was unraced at two but made giant strides last year, winning in Listed company on just her fourth start and ending the season with a runner-up finish in the Gr.1 Sun Chariot Stakes behind Fallen Angel. Partnered by Colin Keane yesterday, she was settled in mid-division early on as She's Perfect dictated from the keen-going Kon Tiki and Betty Clover. The leader began to increase the tempo as they swung down the hill into the home straight, but she was soon pounced upon by both Kon Tiki and Blue Bolt. The former moved into a narrow lead approaching the furlong marker as Keane got lower in the saddle aboard the odds-on favourite, but her supporters need not have worried as she engaged top gear inside the final half a furlong and swooped to a cosy three-quarter length win. Shes Perfect was a length and a half away in third.

This was a perfect start to the season for Blue Bolt, who holds upcoming entries in the Gr.1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on the 16th of this month and the Gr.2 Lanwades Stud Stakes at the Curragh eight days later. She was providing her in-form trainer with a third winner in the space of an hour following a Newmarket double.
