A successful weekend for Juddmonte juveniles

This weekend saw a duo of juveniles claim their maiden wins in impressive style (Brave Mission and Windlord) and two-year-old Jouncy earn his first blacktype as the narrowly-beaten runner-up of the Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes.

Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News, 8th & 9th September:

Frankel colt Brave Mission was the first to strike, showing an electric turn of foot to win a Kempton novice race comfortably on Friday evening. From the family of Dancing Brave, he is the first foal out of dual listed-placed Bravo Sierra, a half-sister to the Gr.1 Jenny Wiley Stakes heroine Juliet Foxtrot (Dansili) and Gr.3 Dick Poole Fillies Stakes scorer Juliet Sierra (Bated Breath).

Saturday saw Jouncy making his second foray into Group company, in the Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton Park. He raced wide early and took the lead briefly a furlong out before being denied in the final stages of the race by Symbol Of Strength, who was rated 20lbs superior following his third-place effort in the Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes last month.

Windlord powered to victory in a York novice race on Sunday, posting a five and a half-length wining margin at the line. Anna Lisa Balding said after the race: "We're thrilled with that. Windlord has been delighting us in his bits of work at home and we were hoping he'd bring it to the track today, which he did. He really hit the line. With a jockey riding like Oisin (Murphy) is at the moment is very helpful. Oisin was very complimentary afterwards so I think we'll look for something better now. He's in the Royal Lodge, but we'll see about that."

Windlord is the second foal out of a daughter of the legendary Goldikova, whose two blacktype performers are the Gr.3 Prix Cleopatre winner and Gr.1 Prix de Diane-placed Terrakova and the Listed Prix Maurice Zilber scorer and Gr.1 Prix Rothschild-placed Goldistyle by Windlord's sire Dubawi.
