Full-brother to Finche wins on debut

Frankel colt Baratti, a full brother to multiple Group winner Finche, broke his maiden at Chantilly yesterday (5th April) at the first time of asking.

Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News, 6th April 2021:

Baratti (Frankel) recovered from an early bump to race in a handy third after the initial strides of this first go. Niggled along as his saddle slipped rounding the home turn, the 6-4 favourite was under pressure for the length of the straight and kept on gamely once joining the front rank passing the eighth pole to prevail by three quarters of a length from Cosmas with equipment intact.

Andre Fabre-trained Baratti is a full-brother to multiple Group winner and dual Gr.1 Turnbull Stakes placegetter and Gr.1 Melbourne Cup fourth Finche. He is the 14th foal and eighth winner out of Binche, herself a half-sister to Group-winning multiple Scandinavian champion Binary File. The May-foaled homebred chestnut is also from the family of multiple Gr.1 winner Proviso and Gr.1 Prince of Wales's Stakes-winning sire Byword.
